Activision and Infinity Ward revealed a new special editions of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 called it Prestige Edition, with not only the usual accoutrements like a special casing and an art book, but also fully functioning NVGs - night vision goggles! Infinity Ward community manager Robert Bowling has made a YouTube video (bellow) showing off the various Modern Warfare 2 special editions, and highlighting the “Prestige Edition”. As described by him It includes the usual goodies, also in the box is a voucher code for downloading the previously rumored PSN/XBLA version of the original Call of Duty. This plus a steel game case, art book and a custom molded plastic head for displaying your working night vision goggles on.
That’s pretty awesome, but we gotta imagine it’s gonna cost more than that $80 “collector’s edition” for $80 Amazon and GameStop are currently listing. Infinity Ward has just revealed the price for this check out the update bellow when this is released world-wide on November 10th 2009 .

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare was one of the biggest titles to appear at the end of 2007, introducing at the same time a new prestige and critical acclaim for the first-person shooter, which hadn’t really brought the house down in terms of originality up until then.
The team at Infinity Ward created a solid experience set in modern times, which consisted of both an intriguing and fast-paced single-player campaign, but also a top-notch multiplayer mode that still holds the attention of gamers after two years since its release.
But even though the game is still being actively played by a lot of people, especially on the Xbox 360, cheaters are also present, despite the efforts of moderators and administrators who “hunt” them down. Now, though, it seems that Infinity Ward has its sights set on these cheaters, as Robert Bowling, an employee at the studio, has revealed, through a recent Twitter post, that a patch will soon be released for CoD 4 in order to eliminate cheaters.
“A patch is in the works to eliminate the cheaters in COD4 on Xbox360,” Bowling said and also revealed that it was currently going through Microsoft’s process of certification and that it would appear in the following weeks. He concluded by adding that the days of CoD 4 cheaters “are numbered.”
Hopefully, we will receive a concrete changelog or at least a few details about this patch in order to find out just what problems will be addressed and what things will be made better by it. But until Infinity Ward will shed some “official” light on the subject, it’s nice to hear that cheaters will, indeed, get what they deserve for ruining the experience of other players in online matches.

Infinity Ward has just released the first teaser trailer for the upcoming Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. With it is the launch of the new official website, modernwarfare2.com, and the confirmation of the game’s release which will be November 10, 2009. This teaser doesn’t reveal any concrete information about actual gameplay, however more news and details are sure to be out soon so stay tuned!
With the modernwarfare2.com stream you can freeze the video, zoom in, and analyze it frame-by-frame to search for clues, especially in the flash of random images near the end. After a bit of research, I found a thread in the infinityward.com message boards with some interesting observations. In the trailer there are clear references to certain locations around the world, most notably the Capitol Building in Washington D.C., United States. The user that took the screenshots and posted them suggests that the single-player storyline will center around a major Russian attack on the Americans. The Russian voice-over at the end says, “Revolution is impossible without a revolutionary situation”.
This website is going to change servers, so there is a chance that there is going to some downtime. Don’t worry to much about it though because we will be back online before you know it!
To aviod inconvenience we would be moving sites ONE-BY-ONE.

Activision has announced that the first downloadable multiplayer map pack for Call of Duty: World at War will hit the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on March 19.

Details on a PC release of the DLC are “coming soon,” said a Activision spokesman, who also added that a co-op enabled demo of the “Hard Landing” mode from the game’s single-player campaign is now available exclusively on the Xbox LIVE Marketplace.
Here are the details of the maps that will be added:
Station - A bombed out underground train station littered with destroyed subway cars, hidden passageways, loading platforms and second story overlooks. This medium sized map is perfect for dominating Capture the Flag and other team games and provides a wide range of combat options from close range choke points to hidden sniper spots.
Nightfire - an intense battlefield for mid to large-scale team games. Shelled buildings and ruins of the city provide coverage among the war-ravaged streets, and the flames of the burning city expose the enemy running through the night. Fight for your life knowing that this fiery urban battlefield may soon be your grave.

It looks like a gamer tester ”leaked” some information about Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 on Infinity Awards’ Twitter. It appears that said gamer was banned after posting the info and that the information was removed, so I guess that adds a little more credibility to this story. Anyway, here are the details that the mysterious play tester posted:

- There will be vehicles in Modern Warfare 2
- M16 will return, using stopping power will only be OHK at head, neck, and torso (abdomen, limbs, and hands/feet will not)
- AK47 and M4 will return, unknown if there are any changes
- M40 will return, ACOG damage boost will be fixed
- Scorpion, P90, M21, R700, G3, G360 will not return
- There are more unknown weapons that will not return
- New sniper rifle: SR25M (United states forces)
- New Assault rifle: Diemaco C8 (Canadian forces M4 equivelant and also used in a lot of European armies)
- New Assault rifle: L85A2 (United Kingdom forces)
- Total amount weapons in multiplayer are said to be around 35
- The ”Best” Modern warfare maps will return
- Helicopters, air strikes, UAV will return
- Red dot sightings will come in different shapes for multiplayer (circular, square, original)
- Snipers will have special grass camouflage (As seen in Modern warfare’s campaign)
- All perks will return from Modern Warfare except eavesdrop and others will be altered
- All gametypes will return from Modern Warfare and all will have hardcore versions
- New gametype: Secure (Call of duty version of capture the flag, however you capture the enemy’s Intel. Sounds like ”Headquarters” to me)
- New gametype unconfirmed name, similar to search and destroy, however instead of trying to plant a bomb, you try assassinate a certain enemy.
- Solider customisation for each class (and each country)
- There will be NO silenced snipers in multiplayer.
- There will be NO bots in local multiplayer
- Similar version to Nazi Zombies, however details are unknown
- NO guest players online, 1 player per console
- Killcam save feature (no suprises here)
- There will be ”blood and gore”.
- Offline/Online co-op
- Story takes place in the Middle East
- Role as US marines return
- Ken Lally voice work in campaign
- Release is set for sometime in November
- New army tags will be available to add different elements in campaign (similar to halo skulls)
- Campaign-only weapons
It all sounds very promising, and I’m certainly looking forward to this game, but don’t get your hopes up to high because it’s all ”unofficial and unconfirmed” and it’s possible (though not likely) that everything that the ”mysterious play tester” posted is false!
That’s right, Call of Duty 6 will be released in 2009! This has been officially announced by Activison. Activision has also hinted towards Infinity Ward as being the producer of ”Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2”. Unfortunately no details on the game were released.
